Carla and her mother relocated to Paradise, California, when Carla was just
five years old. Throughout her childhood, they moved many times within the
state, enabling Carla to experience "so much of life so quickly," she says.
Though frequently on the move, Carla's schoolwork never suffered, and she
remained a straight-A student throughout high school and graduated as valedictorian.
During this time, a major modeling agency discovered Carla in San Diego and
sent her to New York to begin a new career when she was just fifteen. New
